TN Taxi provides the TN Taxi Driver application for registered taxi drivers to manage bookings, trips and applicable office fee payments. This policy explains how information may be collected, used, shared and protected when using the app.
1. Information We Collect
- Driver and account details: name, mobile number, profile, vehicle information and verification documents where supplied.
- Location data: precise or approximate GPS location and trip-related location updates, where permissions are granted.
- Booking details: pickup and drop-off locations, assigned trips, status, fares and trip history.
- Payment records: applicable office fees, amounts, transaction references and verified payment status.
- Technical information: app version, device information and error diagnostics where collected for operation and security.
2. Location and Background Location
The app may request precise and approximate location permissions to help drivers locate pickups, coordinate trips, and share location with the TN Taxi dispatch system. If background location is enabled, location may continue to be collected during active driver operations when the app is minimized or the screen is locked.
Location information may be sent to authorized TN Taxi servers or personnel for ride coordination, trip monitoring and safety-related operations. Drivers can change permissions in Android Settings; disabling location may prevent some trip features from working.
Important: Background location collection must match the actual app behavior and be explained through an in-app prominent disclosure before requesting permission.
3. How We Use Information
- Register and authenticate drivers.
- Assign, manage and complete taxi bookings.
- Support navigation, pickup coordination and trip location tracking.
- Display fares, process office fee payments and verify successful transactions.
- Send booking updates and service notifications.
- Protect accounts, troubleshoot errors and improve service reliability.
4. Payments
Office fee payments may be processed using third-party payment services such as PhonePe. TN Taxi may retain payment amounts, transaction references and verified payment records for accounting and support. Payment providers handle information according to their own privacy policies.
5. Sharing of Information
Relevant information may be shared with authorized TN Taxi staff, passengers when necessary for ride coordination, payment processors, hosting or technology providers, and authorities where required by law. We do not sell driver personal information.
6. App Permissions
Depending on the installed version and features used, the app may request location, background location, foreground service, internet, notification, camera, or photo/media permissions. Camera and media access, if offered, are used for driver profile or document uploads.
7. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including access restrictions and secure connections where implemented. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain data for as long as necessary to operate the service, meet legal and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. Drivers may request account and associated personal data deletion by emailing tntaxi.in@gmail.com. Some payment or legal records may be retained where required.
9. Third-Party Services
Depending on the app configuration, third-party services may include Google Maps or location services, Firebase, PhonePe, and hosting providers. Their own privacy policies may apply to data they process.
10. Children's Privacy
This application is intended for registered taxi drivers and is not designed for children under 18.
11. Your Choices
You can manage Android permissions in device settings and contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable requirements.
12. Policy Updates
We may revise this policy when our app or data practices change. The updated version and effective date will be posted on this page.
